About Interfaith Community Services
Interfaith Community Services was founded in 1979 by a handful of diverse faith communities to address the needs of low-income, homeless and under-served people in North San Diego County. Separately, these congregations were providing relief to people in need, but by creating Interfaith they were able to collaborate to make a bigger impact on the needs of the people in our community.
As participation grew, Interfaith evolved into a broad continuum of programs and services that provide the tools and resources people in crisis need to stabilize and rebuild their lives. These programs are organized into five main areas:
Nutrition
Employment & Economic Development
Self-Sufficiency & Supportive Services
Clinical & Behavioral Health
Recovery & Wellness
Under these program clusters are numerous services covering a broad spectrum of support. Programs are designed to overlap so that each client has access to as many resources as necessary for his or her individual situation.
Interfaith offers programs through North San Diego County, from the coastal City of Oceanside, to the inland communities south and east of our Escondido headquarters. With more than 300 member faith centers and 230 dedicated staff, Interfaith served more than 22,000 unique individuals last year alone.
